The Waynflete Office aims to promote and enhance the school’s relationship with former pupils, current and former parents, staff and the local community. The other major part of our work is to raise funds in support of Magdalen College School.
We greatly value the generosity of the MCS community both in financial terms and in time and expertise.
Bursaries are always at the heart of our fundraising. We want to ensure that any young person who would flourish at MCS is given the opportunity to do that regardless of their family’s financial circumstances – in keeping with the ethos of William Waynflete. The majority of donations spent in 2023-24 supported bursaries and hardship grants at MCS.
We are always pleased to hear from members of our MCS community. Email us at waynfleteoffice@mcsoxford.org or phone 01865 253 499. If you know of an OW who has lost touch with the school and would like to be in contact please pass these details on.
Post can be sent to the Waynflete Office, Magdalen College School, Oxford OX4 1DZ.
We send a monthly e-newsletter and invitations to a range of events across the year as well as our printed publications. You can choose how you would like to hear from us. If your contact details have changed please complete this form.
Director of Alumni Relations
Alan joined MCS as a Mathematics teacher in 1981. He became a house tutor then Housemaster of Callender House. Firstly appointed Professional Tutor, he then became Senior Teacher before semi-retiring in 2016. Always active in coaching sports, involved in the CCF and lots of other outward bounds activities, including the ski trip, he is well known to generations of pupils and parents. In 2000 Alan became the staff representative of the Old Waynfletes, which morphed into becoming Director of Alumni Relations, a post he still enjoys along with a passion for the history of MCS.
Head of Development Services
I am a native Ohioan who is thrilled to be part of the Waynflete Office team.
Having worked in innovation consulting for many years helping fast moving consumer goods manufacturers better understand their consumers, I made the leap to development and MCS in 2019 and have never looked back. It’s wonderful to know that our bursary fundraising enriches the school by ensuring that it can be open to pupils from all backgrounds and circumstances. I also really enjoy getting to know Old Waynfletes and members of our MCS community, all of whom are so supportive of the school’s aims.
In my role as Head of Development Services, I oversee many of the operational aspects of the office related to data, finance, stewardship, and events.
I am also an MCS parent and love seeing what the school offers our pupils. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of walking around School Field on a sunny day, or cycling to the office through the dreaming spires of Oxford.
Outside of work, I am always seeking to keep fit via running, tennis, cricket, paddleboarding – anything active!
Communications and Events Manager
Born and brought up in north London, I then left for the flatlands of Norfolk and read biology at UEA in the beautiful city of Norwich. However the lab coat wasn’t calling me so took a postgrad course in media studies and embarked on a 22-year career in commercial radio working across the UK, specialising in marketing and sponsorship.
Then I took part in MasterChef and everything changed! I didn’t win but it did change my life because I decided to leave radio and study for my Cordon Bleu Diploma and subsequently ran my own cookery school, teaching everything from patisserie to knife skills. After ten happy years I put down the spatula and took up a role as Manager of MCS’s Oxford Festival of the Arts for three years before moving to my current post in the Waynflete Office.
Outside work I still love to cook, I’m a keen gardener, enjoy theatre and cinema and endure Pilates which I know is good for me!
You can find us on X, Facebook and our LinkedIn group which is a great way to connect with other OWs, Friends and former staff and make useful business connections.
We produce a monthly online newsletter with updates from school and the wider MCS community, forthcoming events, news of OW reunions, achievements and announcements, and more besides! If you would like to receive it please email the Waynflete Office.
