The final day of Michaelmas term was marked with festive fun, as pupils wore Christmas jumpers in support of our two chosen charities this academic year. Donating £2 each, the funds raised are going to our nominated local charity for 2024/25, Oxford Hospitals Charity, and to Mustardseed Junior School, our international partner primary school in Sentema, Uganda.
Pupils in the Charities Committee run elections each year for the school’s local charity fundraiser. This year, six charities were nominated and, thanks to a mammoth effort from Co-Chairs Edie and Sidra and the committee counting over 500 votes, we are thrilled to announce this collaboration with OHC. Claire Hughes, Events Organiser at OHC, commented: “Your decision to partner with us in this way speaks volumes about your commitment to making a difference in our community and beyond. We are inspired by your dedication and are thrilled that you believe in our mission to making a difference every single day for our patients and staff across our hospitals.”

In the Junior School, the boys have also been creating Christmas cards to send to pupils at Mustardseed, fostering a personal link between our pupils and their peers in Uganda.
This link was strengthened further this term as we welcomed Mustardseed Junior School in September. Kenny Buwule (Founder and Headteacher), John Caird (OW and Founder) and Jess Napier (Educational Advisor) spent over a week at MCS, observing lessons in both the Junior and Senior School, showcasing their impressive We are moving school song to the whole school in Chapel, and joining us for the Benefactors’ Reception at the Ashmolean and the Partnerships Guest Night dinner.
Pupils in Uganda loved receiving their cards, which arrived in Sentema this week.
At the time of writing, money raised since the beginning of term is:
Next term, we are organising a Charity House Netball Tournament on Thursday 27 February, and we are already looking ahead to Founders Day in Trinity term.
