(22 January 1934 – 24 January 2021)
MCS was informed by OW John Whitlock (1951) that Tony Tyler had died, two days after his 87th birthday. Tony had been in and out of hospital for many weeks, after a fall. Tony leaves his wife June, and their children Mark and Jane.
June writes the following:
“Tony was born in Birmingham but only spent a short time of his early life there. He was always very proud of Magdalen College School and enjoyed the dinners and lunches that he attended through the years.
After his school years he was in the RAF where he found his love of flying . He had four aeroplanes and it was a great passion of his. After the RAF he worked for Philips but when they decided to promote someone over him he left to form his own company “Steepletone”. Fifty years on it is now run by his son Mark Tyler along with close family.
Tony enjoyed life to the full, and made friends easily. He had a boat in the South of France, and always went skiing in the
winter.
Tony will be laid to rest in Steeple Aston village church yard on Feb 10. He will of course be wearing his Magdalen Tie and cuff links.”
