Mrs Ruby Baker died on Tuesday 10 December 2013.
Born on 23 June 1909, she lived through both world wars before becoming Matron at MCS in 1959 – a role she adored, only retiring in 1978 aged almost 70. Many boarders and choristers in particular will no doubt remember her well for her kindness, patience and good humour – she loved ‘her boys’.
She leaves behind a daughter and three sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
If anyone wishes to make a donation in her memory, the family has asked for these to go to the Isis Care and Retirement Centre, Cornwallis Road, Oxford OX4 3NH where Mrs Baker spent the last five years of her life – happy and well cared for.
