(2 May 1945 – 7 November 2022)
We are grateful to Robin’s son Andrew for the following words about his father:
I know my Dad was very fond of his years at MCS. After MCS Dad went on to study Natural Sciences at Cambridge University. After completing his course, he took up positions in a number of industries including agrochemicals and tobacco before settling into pharmaceuticals. Dad’s pharmaceutical career started at Nicholas in 1986 where he worked in Business Development. In 1991, Nicholas was acquired by Swiss company Roche. Under the new company, Dad went on to have a very successful career as Regional Head for EEMEA (Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa).
Dad married his wife, my mother, Paula, in 1982. The two shared a keen sense of adventure and spent many years jetting around the world. They enjoyed their early years together in Barnes. His love of sports persisted throughout this time. Hockey remained a firm favourite, with Dad going on to captain the local Barnes hockey team. They had two children, myself and Joanna in 1987 and 1990. Dad’s role with Roche took us to Switzerland in 1991, where, as a family, we led a very active lifestyle. We would spend many weekends hiking, skiing and enjoying the great outdoors.
In 2004, Dad decided to return back to Oxford with the family, taking early retirement after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Back in Oxford, he took pleasure in keeping active and catching up with friends. Dad was determined not to let the condition stop him from truly reveling in his golden years. Even when his mobility declined, he threw himself into more creative pursuits such as painting and photography.
