(8 September 1937 – 11 December 2022)
The Waynflete Office has been informed of the death of Richard ‘Dick’ Dust by his friend Richard Burden OW (1965).
A keen sportsman, Richard won Junior Colours for rugby at MCS and first shot at Bisley for the school in 1952 . He went on to become Captain of shooting 1955-6. He was in the unbeaten 2nd XV (10 wins in 10 games) in 1953.
He took part in the MCS Loch Sunart Expedition in 1956 where the majority of pupils hitch-hiked to Scotland to save money (some ended up sleeping in police cells overnight when stranded). They camped for two weeks helping the forestry commission plant trees, and the meteorology office by conducting experiments on the size of raindrops.
Richard continued to be an avid shooter and was Captain of the Richochet Rifle Club from 1961-1996 and Chairman from 1990-2008. He was President until his death.
