Professor Nicholas Standen died of Covid-19 while in a Leicestershire Nursing home. He suffered strokes in 2008 which left him disabled and suffering from Dementia.
After leaving Magdalen College School he studied Natural Sciences at Queens College Cambridge, gaining a first class degree and then studied for a PHD at Cambridge.
He had a distinguished career as a neurophysiologist at Nottingham and Leicester University.
He was born in Oxford and returned frequently to visit family there.
He leaves Alison, his widow, three children Jonathan, Jessica and Claire and five grandchildren.
