(20 January 1940 – 17 November 2023)
The Waynflete Office has been informed of the death of David Thomas Johnson at the age of 83.
David was a direct grant pupil at MCS and was a keen pupil and academically strong. He also enjoyed the Choral, Cine and History Societies. He went from MCS to Lincoln College to study Modern History and eventually took the role of Dean of Arts at Leicester University.
Below we include a short obituary from his online remembrance page:
Loving husband of Barbara, father and stepfather to Andrew, Martin, Richard and Sarah, ‘Poppy’ to Alice, Dan, Emma, Grady, Sam and Tom, brother to Margaret and Barbara, brother–in–law to Steve, Terry and Julie, and an uncle and great-uncle. A gentle, kind, and selfless man, with a lifelong passion for history and music, a graduate of Lincoln College, Oxford, and an Honorary Fellow of the University of Leicester. Much thought of in the many fields of life.
We send our sincere condolences to David’s family and friends.
