Colin’s widow Mirja informed the school that her husband had passed away on 16 May 2014 after a three-year battle with lung cancer. Mirja wrote:
Colin moved to South Africa in 1970 and remained there until his death in Johannesburg.
He loved the outdoor life made possible by the lovely long summers in South Africa. He took part in numerous running events, marathons and ultra-marathons. He enjoyed orienteering and geocaching for many years all around the country.
Colin worked as an electrical engineer for Siemens for 22 years and for the past 20 years as a consultant to various companies. In December 2010 he was able to attend a commemorative lunch at MCS. He was absolutely delighted that it coincided with our travels to visit family and friends in Europe. The influence of his school years at MCS lasted a lifetime. He had varied interests, including music of all kinds, coin collecting, freemasonry and astronomy.
