MCS was informed by Ted Pierce, OW, that his friend Brian Caink passed away on 23 June 2009, aged 87.
Brian and Ted were friends throughout their years at MCS, having joined as choristers in 1933. Brian was an all-rounder both academically and especially at sports – rugby, cricket and shooting were favourites, but he excelled as Cox of the 1st IV in his final years.
After MCS he went on to join May & Baker, the pharmaceutical company, and he always attributed his interest in chemistry to the enthusiastic teaching of ‘Flick’ Simmons.
Brian was well enough to continue playing golf with his wife Audrey, and it was on the golf course that he died, exactly where he would have wished it.
Our thoughts go out to his wife, Audrey, and to their son and daughter.
