Cricket
Over the break, the 1st XI travelled to Sussex to play fixtures against Sussex U17s and Brighton College.
Ollie Price scored a century and and James Cole 98 as the side comfortably defeated a strong Sussex team. Against Brighton College, encouraging batting performances from Sammy Lion-Cachet, Anton Eisner and Jonathon Jelfs saw the side finish their innings on 164. This proved an adequate score, as the Brighton team failed to cultivate enough partnerships to mount a successful run chase.
The 1st XI also played St Edward’s on Tuesday 23 April, in what was a closely fought contest. St Edward’s got off to a good start with the bat, but crucial wickets from Joshi, Jelfs and Chesser restricted the opposition to 196 from their 50 overs. In response, the Firsts worked hard with bat in hand, but a steady loss of wickets prevented any partnerships from developing. Louis Mase and Sammy Lion-Cachet both batted with particular composure, but MCS unfortunately came up 38 runs short.
The 2nd XI won their corresponding fixture in convincing style. The U15As and U14As, meanwhile, found the going tough and lost their matches, but all will have been served well by the experience as they prepare for the coming season.
Tennis
Thank you to Mr Tuck and Mr Ford for taking the tennis group to La Manga in Spain. Some excellent tennis was played over the 5 days and thank you to all those who attended for their hard work and positive approach to all training.
Rowing
We hosted an Easter training camp for the first time this year. The rowers were able to gain invaluable time on the water and cover greater distance than the usual stretch down by the boat houses. You can see a compilation of the camp’s highlights by clicking play on the video below.

Hockey and Rugby
Good luck to the 1st XI hockey side who head down to Taunton (again) for their National Plate quarter final, and to the U13s 7s players who will be travelling to Franklin’s Gardens for their regional finals.
