To be part of MCS is to be a member of a community that spans centuries and continents. In powerful remembrance of our OWs that fought and fell in the First World War, the entire school was involved in commemoration activities that culminated in a play called Reflections. This play, researched and performed by MCS Sixth Formers, included the names and stories of OWs and Oxfordshire locals that are familiar to pupils past and present.

Reflections intertwines the wartime experiences of Ivor Novello, Vera Brittain, and Charles Brownrigg along with Oxfordshire soldiers from all walks of life. The names of all OWs who were killed in the conflict, including those for whom the school houses were named, were read out before the play. We continue to remember John Callender, Noel Chavasse, Donovan Leicester, Charles Maltby, Frank Wilkinson, Maurice Blagden, Geoffrey Walker, Bruce Dunn, and all OWs who have died in wars. Their legacy lives on in the spirit of MCS.
