Regional Tournament: The U14s played at the regional tournament last week. It was a challenging day, but the boys performed extremely well. Their best performances were close 1-0 losses against Wellington and King’s Winchester.

v Calday Grange: U15A lost 4-2 in the quarter finals of the National Cup. This has been a great run and the team should be pleased with their progress this term.

v Merchant Taylor’s: 1st XI lost 5-2; 2nd XI drew 2-2; U16A lost 2-1; U16B lost 6-1; U15A won 3-1; U15B drew 0-0; U15C lost 6-1; U14A drew 4-4; U14B won 2-0; U14C lost 4-0; U14D lost 4-0.

SHSK Tournament: The girls lost their first match to SHSK 9-6, but followed this up with wins over Headington, Stowe and Cokethorpe in their group. They then played, and defeated Queen Anne’s in the final. A convincing 14-9 in the final v Stowe saw the girls win the tournament for the first time, which was a fantastic achievement (trophy to be presented in the near future).

Rugby 7s

KES Stratford Tournament: The U18s qualified for the semi-final, where they played Stowe. Despite a strong performance, they narrowly lost 21-19.

KES Birmingham Tournament: The U12s played extremely well, winning three and losing three. In this round robin format, it is hard to work out exactly where they finished – roughly 6th of 16.

Tennis

National Team Tennis Finals – Bolton

The team started with a convincing 6-0 win v Perse with Sammy Lion-Cachet and Dan Milner playing well. They then moved on to play Felsted who had looked strong in their first game. However, excellent starts from Alex Ridley & Josh Wierszycki soon saw MCS ahead and they went on to win 5-1.

The boys then played Rugby in what was effectively a semi-final. Another convincing 5-1 win saw them into the final. Ridley and Wiersyzcki won their singles sets before Max Chopping produced what Mr Tuck describes as the ‘set of the tournament’ to win and put MCS ahead 3-0. Another win in the doubles saw MCS win by 4 sets to 2, and retain their National Title.
