February saw the Lower Fourth descend on the area around Kings Cross in support of their work this term on world cities. They conducted fieldwork throughout the redevelopment site considering aspects of architecture, sustainability, accessibility, place identity and rebranding.

The boys thought carefully about how places are ‘constructed’, juxtaposing the 2022 vision of the Google Groundscraper alongside the Victorian engineering of Coal Drops Yard. In the afternoon they conducted their own fieldwork investigation in small groups, assessing elements of rebranding in imaginative ways, designing plenty of new fieldwork techniques, with some thorough interrogation of both Kings Cross staff and visitors alike.
