Our Junior School pupils celebrated Chinese New Year in style today with a special assembly including a quiz, songs and more.
The assembly began with a performance from an unexpected guest – a lion dance! Everyone greatly enjoyed the lion dance performance, as it skipped around the room and roared. At the end of the performance, the lion removed its costume and revealed it was Mr Liebers and Mr Terry.
A special thank goes to our International Director, Mrs Ward who kindly loaned the lion dance kit, and to the Senior School Art department, who repainted and polished the lion’s head before the big performance.
We also enjoyed a performance and quiz from each J4 class, who are learning Mandarin this year with our Mandarin teacher: Mrs Sun. J4A sang a Chinese song called “Gong Xi Gong Xi” to get us into the festive spirit. The boys only learnt how to sing it last week, which is a testament to their effort and talent. This was followed by the J4B quiz team with a carefully designed Chinese New Year quiz. Well done all!
The assembly ended with Mrs. Sun teaching all the boys to say “Happy Chinese New Year” in Chinese – “Xin Nian Kuai Le!”
