Pupils at Magdalen College School are celebrating an excellent set of A Level results. The school is delighted to report that 95% of grades were awarded at A*-B, with 81% at A*-A and 42% at A*. In addition, 47 pupils – more than a quarter of the year group – attained 3 A*s or more while 19 pupils achieved 4 A*s or more.
Pupils will be heading to some of the UK’s top universities including Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, St Andrews and Durham to read subjects ranging from Physics to History and Architecture to German. 14 pupils will be studying Medicine.

Individual successes so far include the five pupils who attained 5 A*s. Well done to Isaac (Mathematics) and Sam (Computer Science) who are both off to Cambridge, Sandy (Chemistry) who is headed to Oxford, Robert (Engineering) who is studying at Imperial and Siddharth (Mathematics) who is going to Warwick.
Apsara, with A*A*A*A and a place to study History and Politics at Edinburgh, was recognised by exam board OCR as one of the top performers in the country in A Level English Literature. Meanwhile, Sacha, a former MCS chorister, achieved A*A*A*A* whilst playing prominent roles in school musicals including Curly in Oklahoma! and Paris in The Odyssiad.
Joe, with A*A*A*A* and a place to read Natural Sciences at Cambridge, joined MCS in Year 12 and was an integral part of the First XI Hockey team. Juliana attained A*A*A and has a place to study Medicine at Cambridge. She successfully balanced her studies with making the highest number of appearances in competitive girls’ sports fixtures this year.
Emily, Helena and Larry all achieved their outstanding results whilst being members of the National Youth Orchestra. Both Emily and Helena will be reading Music at Oxford while Larry will study Economics at Cambridge.
Isaac, Sam, Sean and Suchir all finished in the top 100 candidates nationally for AQA A Level Computer Science. Following this, they were put forward for an annual A Level Computer Science prize awarded by Netcraft and invited to a prize-winner event with the other top-performing AQA pupils across the country.
