Magdalen College School pupils are celebrating another excellent set of A Level and Pre-U results. 53% of grades were A* (or Pre-U equivalent*), 88% were A*-A, and 97% were A*-B. Most pupils will be heading to the UK’s top universities, the USA or Art and Drama Schools. All have much of which to be proud: the cohort’s success is even more remarkable considering the cancellation of their GCSE examinations in 2020 owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
Master Helen Pike said “It has been a difficult year for our pupils, and they have had to overcome a number of challenges to achieve such a strong set of results. I am particularly glad that, despite not having had the opportunity to sit public exams previously, they were able to own the exam room. Much of our pupils’ success is enhanced by all that they do beyond the classroom – and by the support of their parents and teachers. I also look forward to learning the results of the local pupils supported by the school through our partnerships and community engagement programme as soon as they are available.”

Individual successes so far include the nine pupils who attained 5 A*/D1s. Well done to Riley, Oscar, Fin, Dom, Leo, Nihar, Nathan, Freddie and Pip. In addition, five members of the 1st XI boys hockey team that won the National Schools Cup in April achieved straight A*s (or their Pre-U equivalent).
Many congratulations also to our 2021-2022 Heads of School Will and Eleanor. Will is reading Medicine at Cambridge while Eleanor is going to Bristol to study History and Spanish.
