Earlier this year, an exciting Zoology artwork project was coordinated by MCS’s own Head of Art, Chris Otley, of which the pieces have just this week been put on display.
The project was run in conjunction with the Oxford University Zoology Department, as a creative outreach project.
Students were asked to compose topical artwork to both make the Department’s space more inviting as well as to represent the research being carried out.
Caitlin Hamilton, the Communications and Outreach Officer for the Departments of Zoology and Plant Sciences at Oxford University comments:
“Here at the Department of Zoology, we are completely thrilled with our new artworks hanging in our main stairwell. Thank you so much to Chris Otley for being the central coordinator on this outreach project, and to the exceptionally talented students from St Edward’s, Cheney, and Magdalen College schools who have provided us with artwork that so perfectly shows off our core research themes. We loved working with you all!”
Following their appearance at our recent Careers Fair, it was fantastic to continue our collaboration with the Oxford Zoology Department, and we look forward to any future partnerships or projects that may come along for our young scientists and indeed artists.
