Our story begins in December 1916: join us exactly one hundred years later to see the Russian Revolution through the eyes of one family.
Tickets are now on sale for the exciting new MCS production 1917.
This ambitious new musical, written by MCS Head of Drama Alex Thomas, tells the story of the Vebronsky family during the tumultuous year of two revolutions. The plot is based on the all-too-real experiences of many aristocratic families during that fateful year, which saw their opulent dream-world replaced with the stark reality of modernity. Against this epic historical backdrop the Vebronskys argue, laugh and love like any other family. Inspired by the incredible stories which emerged from the revolution, 1917 is a celebration of humanity’s ability to survive.
The ambitious score attempts to capture Russia’s rich musical heritage, with sweeping orchestral melodies alongside exuberant folk dances and avant-garde jazz. With a company of over 60 pupils, both on and off stage and in the band, the show is packed with exciting dance routines and promises to provide a memorable experience for all the family.
Performance dates are Thursday 1st –Saturday 3rd December in Big School. Performances will commence at 7.30pm each night and will run for approximately 2.5 hrs, including an interval.
