Pupils at Magdalen College School are celebrating an excellent set of GCSE results. The school is delighted to report that 53% of all grades were a 9, 78% grades 9-8, 92% grades 9-7 and 98% grades 9-6. 100% of pupils achieved grades 9-7 in Mathematics while 28 pupils were awarded straight 9-8 grades, which is just shy of 30% of the cohort.

Master Helen Pike said: “I am delighted that we are celebrating outstanding results once again. These achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of this year group, who have also excelled beyond the classroom. Having shown their worth on stage and field, I look forward to seeing all that they, and the talented new pupils joining us in September, will achieve in our Sixth Form.”

The cohort’s GCSE results are just one highlight of what has been a successful year across an extraordinarily wide range of co-curricular activities: to give just one example, on 23 April 2024, the U16 hockey team were runners-up in the Tier 2 National Hockey Championships at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in London.

Individual successes include Albie, Allen, Dima, Edward and Jasper, who all received 10 grade 9s. Arthur, with 8 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s, was selected to represent the South & West Under 15s cricket team at the 2023 ECB David English Bunbury Festival.
