On Friday 21 June, over 500 pupils from Second Form to Lower Sixth took part in a sponsored walk to Founders’ Day to help raise funds for our international partner school, Mustardseed, in Uganda.
As part of this year’s appeal, staff from MCS and MJS (Mustardseed Junior School) made a video explaining just how much of a difference previous donations have made to the lives of the pupils in Sentema, a small, rural town on the outskirts of Kampala.
The MCS community raised over £6,000, which was match-funded by Vernon Ellis OW. Elsewhere, the Junior School hosted their own Founders’ Day celebrations, with the boys taking part in a variety of sponsored activities including an obstacle course and a treasure hunt, raising more than £1,300 in the process.
First opening in January 2022, Mustardseed is an eco-sustainable primary school designed to immerse pupils in nature. It is built entirely from materials mined on-site, all with a zero-carbon footprint. Watch the video below to learn more about one of Uganda’s most innovative schools and the Founders’ Day appeal.
