On Friday 1st April, the Charity Committee welcomed the Second and Third Form to the Studio for a fun-filled Talent Show that enthralled all participants and audience alike, raising over £100 for the school’s chosen charities, Mustardseed School and Asylum Welcome. Mr Thomas and Mr Hemingway had the whole room cracking up at their ‘diss track’ which enforced that Magdalen truly is the best, whilst performances were strong from both years.
Particular highlights included Larry’s incredible interpretative dance and Enrico’s heart-wrenching drama performance. However, the high-profile judging panel, consisting of Heads of School, Will and Eleanor, alongside Senior Prefects Benji and Jaz, felt there were a few very special performances deserving of a much vied-for podium finish. Nikhil’s excellent dynamic contrast and flawless intonation on the guitar was breathtaking and Owen contributed a phenomenally well-balanced composition on the piano which resulted in an incredibly rich and melodic texture, bearing in mind it made up on the spot.
However, Toby’s perfectly MCS-tailored talent of reciting correctly the digits of pi whilst solving not one but TWO Rubik’s cube pipped the others to the post, earning him a much-deserved win. The Charity Committee would like to thank all involved in such a wonderful afternoon and leaves the reader with the anticipation of a potential return of the Talent Show in 2023…
