On Saturday 30 November, as Scotland celebrated its National Day, members of the MCS Model United Nations set their sights wider still, as they travelled to London to take part in the Wimbledon High School MUN Conference.  With a dozen pupils representing Canada, Czechia, and the Dominican Republic, they debated various urgent issues including child labour, climate change, and eco-terrorism.

As one of around ten schools taking part in the conference, the MCS students performed tremendously well; the motion chosen for the ‘Emergency Debate’ was submitted by the Dominican Republic team, and the MCS delegates emerged from the conference having won more than half of all the certificates awarded for highly commended (David B and Sashank U) and outstanding (Oscar A, Theo A, Oscar BN, and Sammy M) debaters. Our delegates ranged from Third Form to Lower Sixth, so the future looks bright indeed for MCS MUN.

All our delegates are now looking forward with excitement to the MUN Conference to be hosted at MCS on 29 February – 1 March 2020.
