MCS pupil James (Fifth Form) has achieved the prestigious accolade of Player of the Tournament at this year’s Bunbury Festival as reported in The Oxford Times. The Festival brings together the most talented U15 schoolboy cricketers from England and Wales.
James produced an outstanding display hitting 199 runs in three innings, including a top score of 112. This follows his impressive performance the previous year when he was the leading wicket-taker.
James has captained the South and West side to secure both the T20 and 50-over titles. He went on to skipper a combined South and West/London & East XI against the West Indies U15 team, where he hit 88 off just 55 deliveries.
He then led the team against a North/Midlands select side achieving a superb 129 off 121 balls.
To round off these remarkable achievements James will play on Tuesday 3rd September for the English Schools Cricket Association against the MCC at Lord’s.
Cricket remains integral to the school’s sporting calendar and MCS is once again included in The Cricketer Schools Guide (2020) listing the top 100 senior and Top 50 prep schools in the country.
“I hope that his level head and hard work will help him to continue to progress and make the step up to first class cricket.”
Alan Duncan, Oxfordshire and Sussex academy lead coach
